SPECIES
Tradition, quality, performance
Acqua Azzurra offers its customers the best eggs, larvae and fry of autochthonous species that grow easily in the climatic and environmental conditions of its territory, such as seabream (Sparus Aurata), seabass (Dicentrarchus Labrax) and meagre (Argyrosomus Regius), which are reared both conventionally and organically, always respecting environmental sustainability and animal welfare. These species are highly valued and in commercial demand in the Mediterranean sea due to the quality of their meat and excellent nutritional properties.

SIZES
Precision and care at every stage
Thanks to important know-how and a selected broodstock, the company is able to produce for both species, seabass and seabream, eggs, 1 g fry, 5-10 g fry and fry weighing more than 10 g. During the growth of the fish, a specific rearing protocol is followed for each species, which includes several size selections, manual and non-manual, to equalise the weight of the fish in the tank and avoid cannibalism. This makes it possible to meet customer requirements and contract specifications.
NUTRITION
Optimal growth with natural nutrition
The strength of Acqua Azzurra is the rearing of fish with the most natural growth possible thanks to the use of certified non-GMO feeds and quality raw materials, which allow the fish to grow in a balanced way in order to offer the end consumer a product comparable to fish caught in the sea. In the larval stage, the fish are fed with algae and live food such as rotifer and artemia, all produced in-house in the phytozoa department. Subsequently, the company supplies dry feeds from the best Italian and foreign feed companies, GMO-free, derived from the same species and free of terrestrial flour.
VACCINATIONS
Health and immunity first
All our fry undergo a cycle of vaccination by immersion and, on request, also a vaccination by injection for the main fish diseases. Acqua Azzurra employs a team of expert vaccinators operating on site, offering fish with high immunity at the time of sale.
The choice of vaccines is made by a team of experts depending on the age of the fish, the size and the geographical area of destination, always following best practices and putting animal welfare first. This allows to raise fry without the use of antibiotics from its birth and to meet customers' needs.
QUALITY CONTROL
At your side to ensure quality
In addition to the constant control of water quality, environment and feed, numerous quality checks are carried out during the preparation of the batches of fish to ensure that there is no oversized dispersion or, through a dedicated selection team, the presence of malformations (in the mouth, spine or operculum). All this is done while always guaranteeing animal welfare.
Acqua Azzurra customers themselves are encouraged to check quality standards in person, including the coefficient of variation, average weights and morphological suitability of the fish, as specified in the contractual commercial conditions. In addition, they are invited to participate in vaccination, counting and loading operations specifically for the batches planned for their deliveries. This commitment to transparency is a fundamental pillar in building a solid relationship of trust with our trading partners.
QUALITY
CERTIFICATIONS
Acqua Azzurra puts environmental sustainability, health and animal welfare first and boasts numerous national and international certifications. In fact, the company complies with the standards of Quality Management Systems (UNI EN ISO 9001: 2005), Food Safety Management Systems (UNI EN ISO 22000: 2005), Sustainable Agriculture certification (Standard GLOBAL G.A.P. 2005) and finally production without the use of antibiotics from birth as well as organic production (EU Reg. 2018/848).
This certification focuses on company management, the customer and his or her ongoing satisfaction and continuous performance improvement with regard to the products and services provided
Fundamental standard for safety management systems in the agri-food sector. It is applicable to all companies operating directly or indirectly along the food supply chain, including producers. This standard helps to understand and identify the risks to which companies and consumers are exposed, and to effectively monitor and optimise all food safety performance.
GLOBAL G.A.P. is an international organisation, established with the aim of standardising voluntary standards for Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) applicable globally. It also adds the G.R.A.S.P. module, which evaluates the management of workers and their working conditions. Using a guideline such as Global GAP minimises exposures and impacts on the environment with harmful substances such as highly hazardous chemicals, ensuring a better and more sustainable approach to the environment and end products.
The need for this certification stems from an awareness towards consumers who are increasingly unintentionally exposed to antibiotic molecules. With this certification we guarantee that our fry are ‘raised without the use of antibiotics from birth’.
The purpose of this certification is to provide a farmed fish that is as close as possible to that caught at sea. Indeed, EU Reg. 848 of 2018 requires the use of certified feed that comes from sustainable farming and fishing, it also imposes rearing protocols that respect the natural growth of the fry.
