HISTORY
Tradition and innovation in the heart of the mediterranean sea
Acqua Azzurra is a historic Italian fish-farming company, established in 1988 in Pachino, in the province of Syracuse. Surrounded by an extraordinary natural environment, it is framed on one side by the suggestive port of Portopalo, with its islands of Capopassero and of Correnti, and on the other by the characteristic locality of Marzamemi, known for its ancient tonnara. This area, now a popular tourist destination, has a rich history linked to fishing, due to the historical passage of tuna. The founder, thanks to a farsighted vision, carefully chose this area after a meticulous research. His choice was guided by the particular suitability of the location, characterised by crystal-clear waters, vigorous sea currents and high temperatures.
MISSION
Know-how, quality and innovation
Acqua Azzurra carries out in a single site the breeding, with its broodstock coming from a careful genetic selection activity, the weaning and the rearing of fry, according to the highest standards of protocol and quality. This takes place thanks to the company's historical know-how and the use of selected feeds and technologies. Acqua Azzurra promotes the production of selected and controlled fish products, which guarantees a healthy and high-quality product for the consumer, as well as a sustainable form of farming alternative to traditional fishing. With an avant-garde approach, the company also engages in experimental and genetic selection activities to constantly improve the characteristics of the treated species..
FUTURE OBJECTIVES
Navigating towards a sustainable future
With a state-of-the-art plant and a highly qualified staff, Acqua Azzurra is a benchmark in the fish sector. This is the result of a constant commitment to understanding the needs of the market and investing in quality, innovation and sustainability. In the coming years, the company plans to continue consolidating its position in the Mediterranean sea and beyond, thanks also to the introduction of deliveries of eggs and larvae by air and the expansion of its means of transport, which include several company trucks and ships. Acqua Azzurra will further diversify its fry offer, introducing new species including amberjack. It will continue to collaborate with international organisations and invest in experimental activities, such as genetic selection, to guarantee an ever higher quality of the species bred. In line with what has been implemented to date, the company will be further committed to promoting actions in favour of environmental sustainability.
